full moon magic psychic development ritual
By Chase Jacobs 22 Aug, 2021
The full moon is a time when naturally intuitive people feel even more in-tune with their gifts. They often feel like their intuition is heightened and find it easy to tap into the magic of the universe. The full moon is not just a time for those who already feel in touch with their intuitive side. It’s also a GREAT time to work on your intuition and psychic development. Now is the perfect time for intuitive divination. If you’re still working on learning your preferred divinatory system ditch the books and your cell phone and head outside under the moon. For example, grab your favorite tarot deck and sit under the moon and do a reading. Pull a few cards and interpret them using your own intuition instead of going by what the book says. Try full moon scrying. Grab a dark colored bowl full of water and sit outside under the moon. Stare into the water and watch for symbols, patterns, pictures, even words to form. Use your intuition to interpret what you see in the water. We highly recommend that you record the results of your divination to look back on later. Write down what cards you drew or what images you saw while scrying. Talk about what they meant to you or how they made you feel. Did intuition about the reading come more easily than normal during the full moon? Ritual to increase psychic development If you want to increase your psychic abilities the energy of the full moon is the perfect source of energy. For this ritual you could make a tea or burn herbs as incense. Choose herbs that are safe for consumption or to burn depending on what method you choose. Check out this post for a psychic development tea. Some common herbs known to be good for psychic development are: Bay Leaf, Celery, Cinnamon, Flax, Honeysuckle, Lemongrass, Mugwort, Peppermint, Rose, Star Anise, Thyme, Yarrow Always research safety of any herb you plan to consume or burn If you’d like to add candles to your ritual choose blue as it is known to help with intuition and psychic abilities. White can be substituted for any color candle. If you’d like to use crystals in your ritual the following fit our purposes well: Amethyst, Aquamarine, Azurite, Beryl, Citrine, Clear Quartz, Emerald, Lapis Lazuli If you’d like to do divination, doing so after this ritual would be an excellent time. Supplies: These will vary depending on what you’d like to use (see above) Herbs Tea Pot, Strainer & Cup OR Incense burner, charcoal disc & lighter Optional supplies: Candles Crystals Tarot or other divination supplies Ritual: Gather your supplies. Find a space outside to perform your ritual. We like to sit on the front porch. Cast a circle if you feel called to do so. Light your candles if you are using them. Light your charcoal disc if using incense. If you haven’t already brewed your tea, add the herbs and hot water to your tea pot and allow them to steep at this time. While your charcoal disc is warming up or your tea is steeping take a few minutes to meditate on the power of the moon. Consider how she can help increase your intuition and psychic powers. When you are done with the meditation pour your tea or add your herbs to your charcoal disc. Sip your tea. Allow the smoke from the incense to wash over you. Look at the sky (look at the moon if you can see her). Ask her to grant you the power that you seek. There is no need for a prewritten ‘spell’ just speak your mind, petition her for help. We’re not demanding, we’re asking. Speak to her as you’d speak to your mother or another woman that you respect and know that you can learn from. Close your eyes. Feel the light of the moon wash over you. Feel the power within you swelling as the moon blesses you with her power. When you feel ready open your eyes. Finish your tea, burn more incense if you’d like. Now is the perfect time to do your divination. To end the ritual: blow out your candles, close your circle and be put your incense burner somewhere safe while the charcoal disc finishes burning (if not already finished.) Record your ritual in your grimoire. Blessed be the Witches
New Moon Magic: Manifesting Positive Change
By Chase Jacobs 07 Aug, 2021
The new or dark moon marks the beginning of the lunar cycle. This is a time when the moon and the sun are reuniting in the sky yet the suns light that is being shined upon the moon is not visible to us. The moon appears dark and in the sky and over the coming days we will watch it grow until it reaches its peak, and becomes full once again. Think of this phase of the moon as a new born babe. New, fresh, limitless possibilities ahead. A time for New Beginnings The new moon phase is the best time to undertake new projects or bring new ideas into being. Whether that is as simple as starting a new habit or as complex as starting a new business the new moon is the perfect time to begin. When you start a new project try to break it down into attainable goals. What can you accomplish during the lunar cycle? Can you break down one large overall project or goal into smaller chunks? Setting goals that are unattainable will lead to feelings of failure and that’s not what we are looking for here. We want to use the potent energy of the moon to help manifest positive energy and realistic goal setting is one way to accomplish that. A time for Positive Change Think about areas of your life that have become stale or lackluster. Consider what could be done to rejuvenate and revive them. Maybe your job that you used to love is beginning to feel less than ideal. Perhaps your love life has lost its spark and is starting to feel routine and boring. The new moon is the perfect time to breath new life into these areas. Set clear, positive intentions to change these lackluster areas of your life. Maybe it’s to find a new job or to find a way to find the joy in your profession again. If you’re dealing with a boring love life maybe your intention could be to actively work to reignite the spark with your partner - try new things or to have a clear, honest conversation about your feelings and your desire for change. Ideas for simple New Moon rituals We are all for simple rituals that require minimal tools or time. We don’t align our rituals with any specific tradition. If you want to cast a circle or cleanse your space go for it. Take these as inspiration and build on them to fit your own preferences. Intention Affirmations: spend some time thinking about what positive changes you’d like to see in your life. Write an affirmation statement on a small piece of paper. Keep it positive and as if what you’d like to change is already a reality. Visualize your statement, see the positive change in your life. Look in the mirror and repeat your affirmation each morning or anytime when you feel like the situation isn’t where you’d like it to be. As far as the slip of paper is concerned, what you do with it is up to you. Light candles and burn your invention in your cauldron to release the power out into the universe. Tape it to your mirror as a reminder to repeat the phrase each day, or carry it around in your wallet until the change you seek has been made manifest. Sit or lay outside under the night sky. Feel the positive energy radiating from the moon. Feel it kiss your skin. Draw that power in with each inhale and breath the negative energy out with each exhale. Fill yourself with the positive. If visualizations help you, do this with your eyes closed and watch the energy trickling down from the sky, dancing across your face, arms, chest, legs, and feet. With each inhale watch the energy fill you up more and more unit you are glowing with positive energy. Use this positive energy to feed your intentions and fuel your projects. Charge your crystals with positive intentions. Select crystals that the reflect the intentions that you want to manifest this month. Hold them in your hands and whisper your desires to them. Visualize these intentions becoming manifest as you hold them in your hands and channel your energy into them. Leave your crystals outside or in a window sill overnight to super charge them with he energy of the new moon. If your crystals are small carry them in your pocket, purse or backpack, otherwise display them in your sacred space or altar.
Full Moon Magic: Letting Go
By Chase Jacobs 18 Jul, 2021
Humans have been fascinated with the moon for as long as we’ve been on this great big rock. She sits in the sky looking down on us every night - that same moon looking down on you looked down on Shakespeare, Nefertiti, Sappho, and so many men and women before them. She sits in the sky watching and observing us. Some nights she’s shy and hides and others she’s confident and shows up bright and beautiful. Each night she lends us her magic, but on the nights where she is full she lends just a little more. The full moon is an excellent time to do magical workings. The energy of the full moon lends itself to workings focusing on things like purification, psychic development, letting go, and divination. Perhaps the most powerful of these is the way her energy helps us to let go. I mean what is more magical and freeing than just letting go of all of the people, ideas, thoughts, and things that are holding us back and holding us down. What do you need to let go of? Grab your journal, it’s time to think about what we are in need of letting go. Try one or more of these journal prompts to determine what you may want to consider letting go of. We all give in to bad habits from time to time - some more often than others. What habits have taken hold in your life? How do these habits affect your emotional and physical well being? Think of a situation that you have struggled to move on from. What made the situation so difficult for you? What emotions does thinking of this situation bring up in you? How would letting go and allowing yourself to move on affect your wellbeing? Think about your self-talk. When you talk to yourself are you positive or negative? Do you build yourself up or tear yourself down? When you make a mistake do you forgive yourself and move on or do you dwell on it and think about how you messed up over and over again? Maybe it’s time to let that negative self-talk go. I know this one can be hard - personally it is something I need to let go of. Ideas for simple ‘Letting Go’ rituals. My goal is for these rituals to be accessible to anyone without needing special tools. Asking mother moon for help. Find a comfortable spot and sit outside under the full moon. Take some time and really think about what you are ready to let go of. Think about how letting go will positively influence your life. Now talk to the moon. Talk to her like you’d talk to a parent or grandparent when you need help. Ask her to wash her energy over you and lift these things from you. Now, visualize the light of the moon washing over your body and your soul. Watch these things that have been holding you down float away, freeing you from their bonds. Thank the moon and leave an offering if you feel drawn to. Take a ritual bath. On the night of the full moon fill a vessel with tap water and close it to prevent dirt or debris from entering your container. Leave it out to absorb the energy from the moon. Use it the following night in a ritual bath. (While any container will do, have a peek at our gorgeous moon water bottles here .) Before you bathe, meditate on the things that you need to let go of. If mediation isn't your thing light a candle or burn some incense - do whatever helps you slip into a ritual mindset. Focus on them and on life without them. Think about how much happier you will be once you set them free. Run a bath and add your bottled moon water. As you pour the moon water into the bath, visualize the moon's energy filling up your tub. As you step into the bath feel the energy on your toes, wiggle them so that it can wrap around them. Feel it wrap around your legs and your torso as you slowly sit down. Relax into the tub and allow the water and the energy to climb up your back and over your shoulders. Dip your head into the water, or take a cloth and rub the water across your face, neck and head. Focus on the energy, feel it drawing out what you're letting go of. Sit in the bath for as long as it takes for the energy to draw the negative out and replace it with the glowing radiant light of the mother moon. When you feel like you have let go, drain the water and watch it wash down the drain. It’s gone. You’re free of that which was holding you back. As with any magical working take what works and leave what doesn’t. Make these prompts and rituals your own. Not into baths? Try anointing your body with the moon water instead. Use the anointed areas as power points for the magic to take hold and watch those points draw the negative out and then fill you with light. Don’t have a place to put your container of water outside? No problem, place it in a windowsill. Raining or overcast? No big deal. Sit on a porch or inside by a window. The moon doesn’t have to be visible - she is still there in all of her energetic glory. It’s time to let that shit go, witches!
trust in your spellwork and yourself
By Chase Jacobs 20 Apr, 2021
You’ve done your research, made your preparations and are about to begin your spell-working. Maybe you cast a circle, maybe you invoke a particular god or goddess, or maybe you do neither of those things. There are so many different ways practitioners approach spellwork, and you know what? They’re all perfectly acceptable and valid methods, as long as you, the one doing the working, believes that they are. This is because it’s your belief that is powering your spell. If you believe that it’s going to work, and you give it time to work, then chances are good that you will see an effect of your working. However, if you’re second guessing yourself and are not fully committed to the working and are not fully self-assured of your abilities, your working will be doomed from the beginning. Trust in yourself. Once you work your spell and send it’s energies out into the world, don’t worry about it anymore. I’ve heard others in the past say that even thinking of your past spells will cause their effect to fade away, but I don’t subscribe to this way of thinking. I believe that we can think on our past spells, even ones that are still effective and working today, and in doing so provide it with additional power from our ongoing trust, confidence and faith that we hold for it. If you’re struggling with imposter syndrome and feel like you’re unable to trust in your abilities then you need to take a little bit of time for yourself. Meditation, affirmations and continuing education will all help you get to the state of mind that you need to be in for a positive working. Don’t give up, you have the power to change your world. Your magic is your own. Do what feels right to you. You don't have to bend or conform to anyone else's views or ideas of what magic should be or how it should be done. Be your own guide. Make your own rules. Here endeth the lesson.
